Midweek round up – our first champions!

Midweek round up – our first champions!

It was only a matter of time but Wilnecote can now crack open the champagne as Champions of Division 3. Congratulations! The battle for second is a lot closer with Albany A making a late move by beating rivals Bedworth Ex on their own turf. Any one of three players can still realistically top the aggregates (Gary Morton, Gary Smith and Scott Crowther).

In Division 1, Alvis A lead Bulkington A by two with only a +24 shot difference lead. However with four games left Walsgrave B, Sphinx, BBC B and Lime Tree A are all in with an outside chance! Garry Bench is just in the lead in the aggregates but there are 5 or 6 other players in the hunt.

Foleshill B lead Division 2 by 7 but have played one more than Knowle. Potters are a further 6 back but also have a game in hand. To add spice, Foleshill host Potters and play Knowle away (26th August) in what would be called a ‘classic 6-pointer’ in football. Steve Blight leads the way but, like Division 1, there are a bevvy of players snapping at his heels.

Finally, Division 4 is almost done and dusted as BBC D open up a 26 point lead over Kenilworth B. They and Coundon D can still catch them, both having a game in hand, but even if Kenilworth whitewashed their opponents in the final 4 games, BBC D would need just 15 points from their final three. Ken Rudd tops the aggregates having only lost once in 14 games but his team mate Gordon Kent is keeping him honest together with Tony Shoesmith and John Hyland.

Good luck for your remaining games!

The last four games

The last four games

We are now in the ‘last four games’ period for Midweek and Thursday means which there are restrictions on players from a higher division dropping down to a lower division (known as Rule 11).

If you have any questions relating to Rule 11 please contact your league secretary. Any breaches of the rule will result in the result being struck off and a walkover avoid to the opposition so it’s best not to take any chances!

The rule applies for the Saturday Leagues from matches in the week of the 12th of September.

Mid-week 2014 – final tables

Mid-week 2014 – final tables

The final Mid-week games have been played and the tables are now up!

In Division 3, it was mission impossible for Alvis B, leaving Walsgrave C top of the table in this tight division. Lime Tree A finished the job in style in Division 2 after only finishing mid-table last season.

And finally, with a losses to 18, 19 and 20, Dunlop B couldn’t have been closer to claiming the Division 1 title, so it is congratulations instead to Cov Colliery A who seem to have turned some of their recent misfortunes into a positive outcome.

Well done all on a brilliant season!

Mid-week results up…

Mid-week results up…

So, with the season almost complete and just a few games left, what we can say is well done to Knowle for a whitewash in Division 4 and… well, that’s about it!

In Division 3 it looks like Walsgrave C title but if Dunlop C manage a whitewash away at Alvis B they should win the league on shot difference, however if they lose by more than 2 they drop to fourth. By small margains…

In Division 2, Standard A head the table from Herberts A and Lime Tree A, but Lime Tree have a game to play. They need just 3 winners at home against BBC C to clinch the title.

In Division 1, Colliery A lead Dunlop B by 3 points and 119 shots. Dunlop play at Alvis A in the final match of the division realistically needing 4 winners to take the title. Although Alvis are towards the bottom of the division, their home form this season has been excellent, having just one off day at the beginning of the season. Should be a good match!

Good luck all (those players and those waiting for the results) – we’ll get them updated as soon as we can!

(note: all information in this message aims to be accurate but mistakes can be made – check out the tables to be sure!)

Mid-week result to 30th August

Mid-week result to 30th August

Last week’s Midweek result’s are now up (up to the 30th). Ken had given me the results and they were copied up but something seems have gone wrong. Apologies.

(just a reminder that there will be no Thursday update until around the 10th September)
